Sully Mansion Bed and Breakfast in New Orleans, Louisiana
One of several intimate bed and breakfast establishments in New Orleans’ attractive Garden District, the Sully Mansion Bed and Breakfast recently garnered fame when it appeared in the hit movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Close to the St. Charles Streetcar line and within walking distance of many attractions, Sully Mansion was built in 1890 by Thomas Sully and now welcomes guests who are looking for quiet accommodations away from the hubbub of some of the busier districts in New Orleans.
There are a total of eight guestrooms at Sully Mansion Bed and Breakfast. The rooms range in size from just a small bedroom to larger suites. Each of the eight rooms has its own bathroom so there’s no sharing at this quality B&B. The St. Charles Suite, for example, has a beautiful four-poster bed, separate seating area, veranda, and floor-to-ceiling windows. The upstairs Bourbon Suite is similar but with an extra large bathroom and separate dressing room. The Prytania has a queen bed and a sleeper sofa, making it able to accommodate larger parties. The Carollton Room is light and breezy, with floral bedding and a queen bed, suitable for one or two guests.
The Esplanade Room is one of the most private at the B&B, situated on the end of the second floor, featuring a queen bed as well as a day bed with trundle, accommodating up to four people. It also has a bright sitting room, perfect for reading or just relaxing. The Desire Room is the smallest of the eight and includes an attractive wrought iron double bed and pretty, romantic décor in pinks and purples. Finally, the Tchoupitoulas Room has it’s own separate entrance for the ultimate in privacy and includes a sitting room, double bed and easy chair, spacious armoire, and a variety of other Art Deco-style furnishings.
In-room amenities for all eight rooms at Sully Mansion Bed and Breakfast include voice mail, wireless internet connection, irons and ironing boards, clock radios, writing desks (in most rooms), and upscale bath products.
The chef at Sully Mansion serves a lovely continental breakfast during the weekdays featuring items such as homemade baked items, cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, juice, coffee and tea. On the weekends, the breakfast becomes much more lavish and will include a variety of hot entrees. Guests can enjoy their meal in the dining room or, when the weather is pleasant, in the garden or on the establishment’s extensive wrap-around porch. Coffee and tea is available to those who must leave before breakfast is served.
On-street parking is available at Sully Mansion and the area is patrolled by 24-hour Garden District Security Officers, making this a very safe place to leave your car while exploring the city on foot or by streetcar.
Concierge service is available as well and can assist guests in securing tour or dinner reservations, a tee time for their golf game, or tickets to a live music venue or theater. Sully Mansion also offers romance packages, girlfriend getaways, and a variety of other deals during the course of the year, especially during non-peak shoulder seasons.
